Incorporated on April 27, 2009, the Rebisco Foundation Inc. (RFI) is now on its 10th year of serving the plant communities of the Rebisco Group of Companies through its Education and Health & Wellness (Community Relations) Programs. To date, RFI has awarded scholarships to more than a hundred high school and college scholars; provided employment to 37 scholar-graduates; renovated and constructed 12 classrooms and learning facilities; fed 700 undernourished kids and extended medical assistance to thousands of individuals; and organized an Alumni Association. Indeed, RFI has grown through the years and continuously strives to create positive impact to the communities it serves.
To meaningfully celebrate its 10th year, RFI chose to do an outreach activity outside of the RGC plants to spread delight to kids in other underprivileged communities such as the Sitio Dumpsite in Antipolo. In coordination with the Reach Out and Feed Philippines (ROFP), an NGO addressing malnutrition in poor communities, 100 school-age kids were selected as recipients of RFI’s Anniversary Outreach Project. Counting on the generous hearts of our Rebisco employees, RFI was able to mobilize donations of assorted Rebisco products; hygiene items such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, comb, nail clipper, and face towel; school supplies consisting of pencils, writing pads, notebooks and crayons, undergarments, toys, and other special items, adding to the raincoats and boots that RFI repacked for distribution.
Thus, on June 22, 2019, RFI together with the RFI Alumni Association (AA) spent the morning with the kids of Sitio Dumpsite at the nearest community worship covered court, letting them feel the love of Rebisco through fun and games, feeding and gift giving. Allaiza De Guzman of RBC OD served as Program Host with the rest of the AA team cheerfully assisting in the group games and giving of prizes. Ms. Emma S. Del Fierro, RFI Head and RBC VP-CHRD, warmly greeted the kids, while the RFI team happily organized the kids for the feeding and gift giving activities. The ROFP Area Coordinator and Volunteers prepared a complete healthy meal complimented with Rebisco goodies.
It was truly a delightful moment for RFI being able to serve needy kids who rarely get the chance to celebrate special occasions, eat delicious meals and receive gifts. The event has been extra special being an employee engagement initiative that reflected the Rebisco spirit of sharing and caring for others.
